| Gary Gibson | |
| Lead
vocal, percussion: Hoot was raised in a family where music was always a big part of life. Whether it was his Dads or his brothers band, or singing and playing in church, he has always been involved in music in some form or fashion. Hoot has been a member of Southern Xcess since 2002. His signature powerful, rich voice adds that southern flavor to Southern Xcess that it has become known for. Hoot uses Shure microphones, Peavey monitors and Horizon cables, as well as Jim Beam Black Label and cheap cigars to season his voice. |

| RJ Gibson | |
| Bass: RJ is a seasoned veteran of the local music scene. Hes been playing with local bands since he was a teenager. RJ is a multi instrumentalist and is in demand with many local acts for gigs and recording sessions. He joined Southern Xcess in 2004. Though metal was RJs first musical addiction, the obvious enthusiasm he projects through his thundering bass lines in Southern Xcess, tells us he is a Southern Rock junkie as well. RJ plays bass in the local bands Aphotic Lore , Decimated, Fathers & Sons and most recently with Waitin' On Sundown. RJ also plays drums with Richmond doom metal band Withersoul. RJ uses ESP, SX, and Fender guitars, Hartke, Fender and Peavey amps. |

| Bobby Gibson | |
| Lead
guitar, vocals: Bobby , lead guitarist (and sometimes mandolin and banjo thats right banjo!) and founding member of Southern Xcess has been playing in the area since the late 60s. Bobbys dad played in a band and used to tag along with him to his gigs at fire halls and Moose Lodges and the like whenever he could guilt him into it! Music has always been a major part of his life. Some of his earliest memories are of his Dads band playing on the Ted Mack show back in the 60, and going to festivals and shows in the area and seeing country and Bluegrass legends like George Jones, Jerry Lee Lewis, Flatt & Scruggs, Ricky Scaggs, Bill Monroe and countless other perform at places like Lake Whippoorwill in Warrenton, American Legion Park in Culpeper and Watermelon Park in Berryville. Good times good times... Some of the local bands Bobby has played with include The Virginia Valley Boys, Takin Care Of Business Band, Burnin Daylight Band, Hot Water Soup, and Fathers & Sons. Bobbys first gig was playing at his Sunday schools Halloween party in 1967. Five kids playing "Christmas guitars" (I think we were all plugged in to the same amp somehow!) doing Beatles and Monkees tunes. The coolest thing about that gig getting a kiss from the prettiest girl at the party because she thought he was cool because he was a musician. How cool is that? Bobbys wife wont let him play for kisses anymore unless youre family! He has a lot of family. Seems like hes always finding new female relatives at every show he does. Hmmm weird. Bobby uses Fender, Gibson, G & L, Paul Reed Smith and Martin guitars, Fender banjos, Mesa-Boogie, Fender and Peavey amps, Shure, and Sennhieser microphones, Shure in-ear monitors, Digitech, Behringer, Alesis, Line6, Dunlop and Mesa-Boogie sound processing. Please make sure you come say hi to Bobby at his next show who knows you may be related. |
